Everybody should be able to enjoy their life, because you only live once. So I just want to get it all out there and be the best role model that I can be, if people want to put me in that kind of predicament. I mean, I didn't ask to be a role model, because I'm not perfect.

Host: The sun dipped low over the city skyline, bleeding its last golden streaks across the rooftops. The hum of traffic below mixed with the lazy buzz of summer — horns, laughter, and distant music leaking from open apartment windows. On a small balcony, high above the streets, two figures sat side by side: Jack, cigarette in hand, and Jeeny, sipping from a chipped coffee mug, her bare feet resting on the cold metal railing.

Host: The world beneath them was still alive — people rushing, lovers arguing, a saxophone wailing faintly somewhere between alleys. But up here, everything felt suspended, like time was holding its breath.

Host: Jeeny held her phone out, reading from the screen, her voice quiet but filled with meaning.
"Everybody should be able to enjoy their life, because you only live once. So I just want to get it all out there and be the best role model that I can be, if people want to put me in that kind of predicament. I mean, I didn't ask to be a role model, because I'm not perfect."A$AP Rocky.

Jack: (with a dry chuckle) “Classic. The modern philosopher’s creed — live once, do it all, don’t apologize. Sounds like an anthem carved into the bones of this city.”

Jeeny: “Maybe it’s not an anthem, Jack. Maybe it’s just a confession. He’s not claiming to be perfect — he’s saying he’s trying to live. There’s honesty in that.”

Jack: “Honesty? Or an excuse to do whatever feels good and call it truth? ‘You only live once’ — that phrase has been used to justify every dumb decision since humanity invented tequila.”

Host: The smoke curled from Jack’s cigarette, rising like a pale ghost toward the twilight. Jeeny watched it fade, her eyes thoughtful, the sunset’s reflection burning gold within them.

Jeeny: “You sound like you’ve never done anything reckless in your life.”

Jack: “Oh, I have. I just don’t write songs about it later and call it wisdom.”

Host: Jeeny smiled, not mockingly — almost tenderly.

Jeeny: “But isn’t that what art is? Taking your mistakes and making them worth something? That’s what he’s saying — he’s not perfect, but he’s visible. And sometimes, being seen is a form of responsibility.”

Jack: “That’s the problem. Everyone wants to be seen. No one wants to be accountable. Being a role model isn’t optional when you’re in the spotlight — it’s part of the deal. You can’t cash the fame checks and reject the moral ones.”

Jeeny: “But who gets to decide what being a role model means, Jack? We expect people to be saints just because we put them on stage. We forget they’re still human. Look at Prince, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain — they gave everything, burned bright, and still got crucified for not being ‘balanced.’”

Host: The wind stirred, lifting Jeeny’s hair, carrying the faint smell of rain and the city’s warm asphalt. A distant lightning flash flickered on the horizon.

Jack: “You can’t preach imperfection as an excuse for self-destruction. You can’t say, ‘I’m not perfect,’ every time someone gets hurt in your wake. That’s not art — that’s evasion. Look, A$AP’s line sounds humble, but it’s dangerous. It says: ‘Don’t expect more from me.’”

Jeeny: (leaning forward) “And maybe that’s exactly the point. Why do we expect more? Why do we turn artists into prophets, influencers into idols, actors into moral compasses? They never asked for that. He said it himself — ‘I didn’t ask to be a role model.’ People projected that onto him. We create gods just to blame them when they bleed.”

Host: The first drops of rain began to fall — soft, hesitant, dotting the railing. The city lights came on one by one, like constellations waking up in the dark.

Jack: “You’re romanticizing mediocrity. Responsibility doesn’t vanish because fame is inconvenient. When people listen to your words, copy your style, mimic your choices — you’re shaping lives whether you want to or not. That’s the price of influence.”

Jeeny: “Then by that logic, no one should ever create anything. Because the moment you open your mouth, someone somewhere will twist it. What do you want — silence?”

Jack: (shrugging) “Maybe honesty without exhibitionism. We confuse living freely with broadcasting recklessly. You don’t need a camera to enjoy your one life.”

Jeeny: “But that’s his point — ‘get it all out there.’ The courage to live loud, not hide. Maybe that’s what’s missing in people like us, Jack. We live small. We edit ourselves until there’s nothing left that’s real.”

Host: Jack flicked his cigarette over the railing, watching the ember drop into the darkness like a tiny falling star.

Jack: “Real isn’t always good. Hitler was real. So was the atomic bomb. ‘Authentic’ doesn’t mean righteous.”

Jeeny: (with heat in her voice) “Don’t twist it. You know what I mean. Real as in alive. Raw. Vulnerable. Imperfect but honest. Look at Bowie — he wasn’t a role model by the world’s definition, but he showed people you could be yourself in a world that punishes difference. That’s what A$AP means too. Be the best version of yourself — even if it’s messy.”

Jack: “Messy doesn’t excuse hypocrisy. Every celebrity says, ‘I’m just being myself,’ but behind that self-expression is a marketing team and a million-dollar brand. You can’t preach authenticity while selling sneakers.”

Jeeny: “So what, they should quit art because people buy it? That’s not hypocrisy — that’s survival. Art has always lived between the sacred and the commercial. Michelangelo worked for the church. Tupac worked for a label. The message still mattered.”

Host: The rain fell harder, tapping the metal railing like impatient fingers. The air smelled of electricity and wet dust. Jack’s shirt was already damp, but neither of them moved inside.

Jack: (quietly) “You really believe they can be both — flawed and guiding?”

Jeeny: “Yes. Because that’s what we all are. Every role model is flawed — that’s what makes them human enough to follow. The best ones don’t tell you to be them. They tell you to be yourself.”

Host: Jack’s eyes softened, his earlier sharpness dulling into something more introspective. He looked out at the city, the endless windows glowing, each one a small story, a brief proof of life.

Jack: “Maybe that’s the tragedy of fame. You live your one life while the world tries to live it for you.”

Jeeny: “Exactly. So maybe the point isn’t to live perfectly — it’s to live honestly. To enjoy what little time you get and leave something behind that feels true, not spotless.”

Host: The rain became steady, washing the balcony in silver. Jeeny tilted her face upward, letting it soak her hair, laughing softly at the cold touch. Jack watched her — the way she didn’t hide, didn’t flinch.

Jack: “You think that’s enough? Just being honest?”

Jeeny: “It’s all any of us can be. You can’t control who sees you as a role model — you can only control what’s real when they do.”

Host: Jack looked at her — rain on her face, eyes reflecting city lights — and for once, he didn’t argue. He just breathed, deeply, like a man remembering something he’d forgotten long ago.

Jack: “You know, you might be right. Maybe it’s not about perfection or permission. Maybe it’s just about participation — showing up, flaws and all.”

Jeeny: (smiling) “Exactly. Because we only live once, Jack. Might as well live it without pretending.”

Host: The storm deepened, lightning cutting the sky, illuminating the two figures on the balcony — two souls caught between philosophy and flesh, cynicism and faith. The city below shimmered like a restless sea.

Host: In that fleeting flash of light, Jack reached for her hand — not for romance, but for grounding. The thunder rolled, and the world felt briefly alive, electric, imperfect, and utterly honest.

Host: The rain kept falling, washing the ash from the railing, the dust from the air, and perhaps, something quieter — the judgment between them.

Host: And somewhere in the distance, through the city’s hum, a song played faintly from an open window — a voice rapping, laughing, confessing, living.

Host: Because maybe A$AP was right — you only live once. But if you live truthfully, even once is enough.
