Yet in their time, this truth had been drowned by greed and cruelty. Their insistence on the plain reality of human equality shook empires and toppled chains. Likewise, when Martin Luther King Jr. declared, “We are created equal,” he was not inventing a new philosophy; he was awakening the world to a truth long enshrined but long ignored.

The emotional power of Orwell’s words lies in their humility. The intelligent man does not always need to dazzle with novelty. Sometimes the greatest wisdom is simply to remind the world of what it already knows, but has forgotten—or has been forced to forget. In times of confusion, clarity becomes revolutionary. In times of deception, honesty is fire. In times of tyranny, the obvious becomes dangerous, for it unmasks the lies upon which oppression stands.

The lesson for us is clear: do not despise the task of repeating what is simple and true. Do not assume that because something is obvious, it does not need to be said. There are forces in every age that seek to obscure, to twist, to confuse. It may fall to you, in your family, in your community, in your nation, to speak aloud the plain truth: that kindness is better than cruelty, that honesty is stronger than deceit, that justice must be defended. Such words may seem small, but they strike at the heart of falsehood.
