"The earth is supported by the power of truth; it is the power of truth that makes the sun shine and the winds blow; indeed all things rest upon truth." So taught Chanakya, the wise teacher, philosopher, and guide of kings in ancient India. His words thunder with eternal weight, for they declare that truth is not merely a virtue among virtues, but the very foundation of existence. The world itself, he proclaims, is upheld by truth—without it, the heavens would falter, the winds would cease, the sun would dim, and the order of life would collapse into chaos.

In these words, we hear the voice of the ancients who understood that beyond armies, beyond gold, beyond laws written by men, there is one principle that binds the cosmos: truth. It is the unseen pillar of justice, the root of morality, the breath of trust between one heart and another. When truth is upheld, the earth flourishes. When it is abandoned, kingdoms fall, friendships dissolve, and even nature itself seems to turn against man.

History bears witness to this. Consider the reign of King Ashoka. In his early years, he bathed the land in blood, conquering by sword and fire. Yet when he embraced the truth of the Dharma—the law of righteousness—his empire transformed. The people prospered, compassion flowed like a river, and peace spread across a vast land. What changed the fate of millions? Not weapons, not wealth, but the simple alignment of a ruler with truth, the eternal law that sustains all things.

Even in more recent times, we see this lesson in the life of Mahatma Gandhi. He waged no war of steel, yet he shook an empire by his unwavering adherence to satyagraha—the force of truth. He declared that truth was not fragile, but the strongest power in the universe. And with it, he gathered millions, turned their despair into hope, and made the winds of freedom blow across a subcontinent. His battle was not won with guns, but with truth, and truth alone.

But let us not think truth is only for kings and heroes. It is for the humble as well. When a child speaks truth to his parents, trust is born. When friends hold fast to truth, loyalty deepens. When a worker is true in his labor, the fruit of his hands endures. In every corner of life, from the smallest to the greatest, truth is the power that sustains. It is the silent strength behind the sun’s rising and the earth’s turning.

O children of tomorrow, learn this: to betray truth is to betray the very order of the universe. Lies may shine for a moment, but like sparks they fade into ash. Truth, though it may be tested, stands eternal, like a mountain unmoved by storms. When you stand with truth, you stand with the sun, the wind, the earth itself. And when you abandon it, you walk into darkness, alone and afraid.

Therefore, let your lives be anchored in truth. Speak it, even when your voice trembles. Act by it, even when the path is hard. Build upon it, for no house raised on lies can stand long. In your dealings with others, let truth be your shield and your bond, for in truth there is freedom, in truth there is strength, in truth there is eternity.

So remember the words of Chanakya: all things rest upon truth. It is the root of the earth, the light of the heavens, and the breath of life itself. Hold fast to it, and you will walk in harmony with the very order of creation. And your life, like the shining sun and the flowing wind, will become a blessing to all who dwell upon the earth.
