Forming Air Supply
In the early 1970s, Russell moved to Australia, where he joined production/theatrical works and music shows. Jesus Christ Superstar, where he met Russell Hitchcock. Air Supply.
After about 18 months in Jesus Christ Superstar, Russell and Hitchcock officially launched Air Supply, naming the band after a dream Russell had of a giant sign reading “Air Supply.” Love and Other Bruises (1976), which found success (especially in Australia).
They later signed with Arista Records, after the song Lost in Love drew attention from Clive Davis. Lost in Love reached the top 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The One That You Love reached #1 in July 1981. All Out of Love, Every Woman in the World, Even the Nights Are Better, Goodbye, and Making Love Out of Nothing at All.
