“God is, even though the whole world deny Him. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.” Thus spoke Mahatma Gandhi, the saint of nonviolence and servant of Truth, whose words still thunder softly through the corridors of time. In this utterance, Gandhi unveils a mystery that sages and prophets have known since the dawn of humanity — that Truth and God are one, eternal and unchanging, unmoved by the beliefs or disbeliefs of men. Whether the world accepts or rejects, worships or mocks, the Reality of God and the Power of Truth remain, untouched and unbroken, like the mountain standing calm while storms rage around it.

The origin of these words lies deep within Gandhi’s lifelong pursuit of what he called Satya, the Sanskrit word for Truth. For Gandhi, Truth was not a concept to be debated, but a living presence to be experienced — the very breath of God. His spiritual journey was shaped by this conviction: that Truth does not depend on approval, and that even if all voices fall silent, Truth speaks within the soul of the righteous. These words were born in an age of turmoil, when nations were shaken by war, greed, and oppression, and Gandhi stood nearly alone against the might of an empire. Yet his faith never wavered. He saw with the eyes of the spirit that what is right stands by itself, needing no defender but its own being.

God is, even though the whole world deny Him.” In these few words, Gandhi gives form to the eternal courage of faith. There are times in every age when the multitude turns its back upon the divine, when scoffers mock the sacred, and when those who walk the path of righteousness are scorned as fools. Yet God remains — not diminished, not threatened, but shining beyond the reach of denial. To deny Him is as futile as denying the sun while closing one’s eyes. Gandhi teaches that Truth does not perish with disbelief, for it draws its strength not from man’s acknowledgment, but from its own eternal essence. The world may forget God, but God never forgets the world.

Truth stands, even if there be no public support.” How often, in the march of history, has truth stood alone! Consider the life of Galileo Galilei, who, armed only with his telescope and faith in reason, proclaimed that the earth moves around the sun. The powers of his day silenced him, branding his truth as heresy. Yet centuries later, his words triumphed, and the heavens themselves bore witness to his vindication. So it was with Gandhi’s own struggle for India’s freedom. When his people were enslaved, and his methods of nonviolence seemed foolish in the eyes of the world, he stood firm, declaring, “Truth alone will prevail.” And in time, empires fell not by the sword, but by the strength of a moral law that could not be broken. Truth is self-sustained; it does not seek applause, and it does not die when abandoned. Like the seed that sleeps in winter, it waits, and in due season, it blooms again.

Gandhi’s words also carry a quiet warning — that those who follow Truth must often walk alone. For the crowd does not always honor the just; it honors the convenient. To walk with Truth is to walk a narrow road, lit not by the approval of men but by the fire of conscience. The self-sustaining nature of Truth demands courage — the courage to stand firm when all others turn away. It asks of us what Gandhi himself gave: a heart that loves justice more than comfort, and a soul that trusts in the unseen even when the visible world seems lost in falsehood.

Yet Gandhi’s message is not grim, but radiant. He reminds us that Truth is alive, unchanging and undefeated. It does not bend to the passing fashions of thought, nor tremble before the thrones of power. The nations may rage, the philosophers may doubt, the multitude may scoff — yet the eternal Reality remains. The laws of righteousness do not depend upon our recognition; they are woven into the fabric of existence itself. To live in harmony with Truth, then, is to live in harmony with the Divine — to dwell in peace even amidst chaos, for one’s foundation rests upon that which no lie can shake.

So, my child, take this teaching into your heart: stand for Truth, even when you stand alone. Do not measure right and wrong by numbers, nor weigh goodness by the opinion of the crowd. Seek Truth as Gandhi sought it — in prayer, in humility, in steadfast action — and let your faith be unshaken though the world deny you. For the strength of Truth lies not in the voice of many, but in the heart of one who believes.

Remember always his immortal words: “God is, even though the whole world deny Him. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.” Live by this, and you will find peace that the world cannot give — for you will walk with the Eternal, whose light no darkness can extinguish, and whose Truth shall outlast all ages.
