Hear the words of Muhammad Iqbal, poet-philosopher of the East, whose voice sought to awaken slumbering souls: Thus passing through the infinite varieties of space we reach the Divine space which is absolutely free from all dimensions and constitutes the meeting point of all infinities.” At first, his words sound like metaphysics, lofty and abstract. Yet within them is a river of wisdom: that the journey of life, of knowledge, of spirit, is a passage through endless layers of existence until we arrive at that Divine space where all opposites dissolve and all limits fall away.

The infinite varieties of space signify the many dimensions of human experience—physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual. We live in space as bodies, we feel in space as hearts, we think in space as minds. Each space differs, yet each points toward something higher. To Iqbal, these are stages, rungs of a ladder. And if we climb faithfully—through science, through art, through devotion—we ascend beyond the visible into that which is beyond measure: the meeting point of all infinities.

This teaching arises from Iqbal’s union of modern philosophy and Islamic spirituality. Influenced by Rumi, he believed that the journey of the self is not bound to the material world, but reaches toward the eternal. He wove the discoveries of science, which reveal the vastness of the universe, with the insights of mysticism, which reveal the vastness of the soul. For him, Divine space was not just metaphor but reality: the dimensionless reality of God, where beginning and end vanish, and where all opposites are reconciled.

History gives us glimpses of this truth. When Einstein revealed the relativity of time and space, humanity’s understanding was shattered—what seemed fixed was revealed to be fluid. Yet centuries before, mystics spoke of realities beyond time and space, where the soul touches eternity. Consider Rumi, who wrote of being lost in the Beloved until self and other disappeared. Both the scientist and the mystic hint at what Iqbal declares outright: that beyond every horizon lies another, until we reach the Infinite beyond dimensions.

Iqbal’s vision also speaks to the human heart’s longing for unity. In a world divided—by nations, by creeds, by wealth, by power—his words remind us that at the highest level there is no division. The meeting point of infinities is the place where all are equal, all distinctions vanish, and the soul stands naked before God. To strive toward this space is to transcend the illusions of separation and to taste the eternal unity that underlies all being.

The lesson is clear: do not remain content with the lower spaces. Do not live only for material comfort, or intellectual pride, or fleeting pleasures. These are stages, not destinations. Seek the higher space, the Divine space, through prayer, meditation, reflection, service, and love. For in striving beyond dimensions, you align yourself with the eternal, and your life becomes part of the infinite song of creation.

Therefore, O seekers, let Iqbal’s words guide you: pass through the varieties, but do not stop until you reach the meeting point of infinities. Do not be deceived by the limits of the world, for beyond every limit is God, and beyond every boundary is the boundless. To walk this path is to live with courage, to seek with humility, and to arrive, at last, in the freedom of the Divine space where all dimensions dissolve, and the soul finds its eternal home.
